Living in an old ghetto town has its own charm. Of course it helps that we are always looking for its charms to help keep us in the "we love where we are at" frame of mind. One of my favorite things in town is the United States Post Office. How cute are these old school boxes? I love them. They have had to add some more updated boxes but I just turn my head towards these little cuties when I walk by. I dig the glass windows and all.

Sometimes happiness is found in random things
I have a tea cup. It brings me happiness and serenity. I bought this little beauty when I was in high school as a pick me up. Winter isn't such a good time for me so I use this alot when I am feeling down. I make some herbal tea, pour it into my little tea cup, grab a cookie, and curl up on my bed (I know, cookies on the bed...for shame!) and wait for all of my stress to vaporize with the steam coming out of my tea cup.
Someday, I will own a complete tea set. And not one of those chintzy ones but something like bone china. Someday.
What makes you happy?

Lookie what I did!
So this was my summer project. Is it awesome or what? I forgot to take a picture with the handles on but trust me, they totally rock. My parents gave us this dresser. It was white and had at least 20 years of crap stuck to it. I think I remember this dresser being my dad's when we lived in our trailer. Yep, it's practically an antique.
The original plan was to sand the white off completely and then stain the dresser dark and use super modern hardware. After several weeks of sanding and only being half done, I ditched that dream and moved on to this beauty.
What do you think?
Summer Time Blues
I will also miss
-Seeing Reesie Boy run around in shorts, seeing our families so much, swimming, going to the park, long evening walks, leaving the windows open so I can feel the breeze, and all the pretty flowers that are growing like crazy in my neighbors yard (our yard is barren. maybe destitute is a better word. or completely ignored.).

Dirt Track Mayhem
As you can see, they didn't work out so well. So go HERE and see the Englestead's pics cause they made my pics look like alien pictures.
See those two blurrs? They would be cars. Ya, they really went that fast...not! My camera is just s.l.o.w.
We really did enjoy ourselves. We loved the races, the cars spinning out of control or up and over the track, we enjoyed the questionable hamburgers, the friends, and watching drunk people win more booze from their raffle tickets. It was something that we will definitely be doing again!

Early return...Ya!
Thanks Tone, we LOVE the way the pics turned out!
P.S. No one tell Benjy's mom that there are family pictures on here. This is part of her Christmas present. I figured I could get away with posting them because Momma Comeau is anti-blog.

-See Meka and Duane finally have their beautiful daughter sealed to them. It was an amazing moment and I am so happy I was there to witness it. Congratulations Hilton family. We love you guys!
-Watch Hayden be a stud on the football field. Seriously, I get so much joy at watching him take on life as a high schooler. He does so well. I couldn't be more proud of him. And you should see his sports skills. When he was little he would always say that he was going to be in both the NBA and NFL. I know I am way biased but sometimes I think he could make this dream happen.
-See my sister!! I haven't seen Christina in months. I didn't realize it would be so hard not living close to her but it kind of is. Aparently it is hard for Rees too because he is still walking around our house looking for Chrissy. He has even been checking the closests.
-Taste one of my Dad's awesome meals. He smoked potatoes, beef brisket, and ribs on Sunday. So. Good. He even made homemade coleslaw and pork'n beans to go with it. It was awesome.
-Play board games like crazy. My family loving humored me by playing Settlers of Catan, Stockticker, and Five Crowns. If I could have gotten them to play Nertz with me, I would have been in heaven.
-Taste my grandma's home grown goodness. She brought me zucchini bread, promagrant jelly (my FAV), strawberry jam, black berry jam, and a whole bunch of tomatoes. Yum, Yum, Yum. We some of all of it with dinner tonight and it was fabulous
-Learn how to change the headlight on my car. Benjy walked me through the whole process and then set me to work while he stood behind and pretended like I was doing it right. (I am pretty sure I kept seeing him flinch like he was about to jump in and save me from myself) I feel like superwoman just because I worked on my own car.

Dear Hayden....
Love, your big sis
Haha, I am so funny.
My little brother is an awesome uncle to Rees. Seriously he does a great job. He teaches Rees how to give wet willies, give people pounds, and how to not throw his little football like a girl. I love it. A couple of weeks ago Hayd jokingly (I choose to delude myself into thinking he was kidding) informed me that no one wants to read my annoying monologue crap and all they really want are pictures of and stories about Rees. Gotta love it. Is it weird that when people do things that show they love my kid, I feel like they are saying they love me? Am I the only one who feels this way?

Mormon Question Evolution…
As soon as you are dating someone the question is, “When are you going to get married?”
As soon as you get married (I am talking, like, at the reception.) the question is, “When are you going to have kids?”
As soon as you have a kid the question is, “When are you going to have another kid?”
I’m not saying there is necessarily anything wrong with these questions it is just that answer is usually, “I dunno. You tell me.”
My question is, "What question comes after the kids questions?" I need to start working on my smart alec answer now. My brain works slowly.

Another One of Benjy's Theories
Benjy has this theory. He thinks that once girls women get into a relationship the only reason they really get dressed up is for other women. Like if you are going to the grocery store, you don’t do your hair and make up and finally change out of your pjs for the other men in the store, you put all the effort into looking good to show up the other women in the store (I’m convinced that this is why you see mothers in the produce department wearing stilettos). The same theory applies when you go on a double date. You don’t dress up to look nice but to look nicer than the other girl on the date.
For years I have contested this theory but I am finally ready to concede. Benjy may be right. There, I said it. I want Benjy to think I am still good looking and be attracted to me so I still try. But I have also figured out the straggly. I only have to try and look better than the women around us so that he thinks he is still getting a good deal. How sad is that?
But here is the positive side to Ben’s random theory. Sometimes you meet people who are just cute. You know, even in their scrubs they still coordinate kind of people. I like having these people in my life. It’s not that I want to out do them but it is that they motivate me. It helps when they are nice about it too (turns out that I am not nice about it though. Me and my big mouth told one of these such people that if she lost any weight, I couldn’t be happy for her. I was kidding when I said it but you should see her though! She is frickin gorgeous! I hope I didn’t offend her, if I did, SORRY!) I have met one of these people in my new home town and I love it! I guess my point is that even though Benjy is right, maybe he is wrong too. What if I am not dressing up for other women but sometimes other women just help me want to look better. Does that even make sense?
